James continued to nominate Mr Mervin Ferris to be the clubs Vice President to which Wilbert seconded and the club agreed.
James then spoke his opinion on the aims and objectives of the club are and commented that he felt we had lost our way of recent months. He also reminded us that last years decision to sponsor Michael Pearson was voted on and made as a decision by the whole club and at the time was the nearest viable option to us having our own bike. And it would be James’ hope that we could sponsor a number of different riders in the coming year.
Joey’s bus run was left to February’s meeting due to the weather.
Everyone agreed they where happy enough with this years Christmas Dinner and would go back to The Ivanhoe next year
Mervin read out the minutes from the 5th November regarding the anonymous letter. Banty proposed that if whoever wrote the letter won’t put there name to it then it shouldn’t be considered by the club. Kenny Gibson seconded this and Mervin asked whoever wrote the letter to say but no one spoke it was therefore decided that the letter should not be taken into consideration.
Ali Mcknight then spoke to encourage anyone who has something on their mind regarding the club to bring it up at the end when there is always an opportunity given to do so.
Gerry Crawford raised the issue of club meetings not starting on time and it was decided that they should start at 8pm sharp in the future.
Mervin said that we had sponsored Alastiar Kirk, Marty Lyons, and Michael Pearson last year and summarised the requests for sponsorship that he had received for this year:
Alastair Kirk is going to be running his on bike this year and is working on costs of approximately £1000 for a race weekend. With it being his own bike he therefore has the bike leathers and helmet all available for sponsors and any sponsorship is welcome.
Michael Pearson is riding with Carryduff Forklifts again this year and is riding Ryan Farquhars 09 zx10 as well as an MSS discovery zx6. He offered to paint two helmets in our colours and was looking in and around £3000 to do so.
Korrie Mcgreevy is a 12 year old boy from Ballynahinch and will be riding a 125 in Mar Train colours next season, Korrie wrote the club a letter requesting some form of sponsorship and attended our meeting. Korrie has been riding bikes since he was 6 and has already won 6 championships. Tim Martin also said that if we did sponsor Korrie that he would put our name on his superbike and supersport bike.

Banty suggested £1500 each and run a night for each rider in The Enterprise to which Wilbert seconded and everyone agreed.
Ali Mcknight then added that for very little more he thought we could get Alastair Kirk’s bike painted in the club colours.
Marty Lyons added that he always enters as The GSMCC bike and that he would be willing to paint the bike for £1500 and a night.
Kenny Gibson then suggested that Mervin goes to the riders and negotiates what we get for our money.
Wilbert raised the issue of how many club members we have actually attending our monthly meetings compared to how many are on our books. He suggested that any new members should have to pay £30 up front.
Mervin then added that if a member hasn’t been in 7 months they should be taken off the books.
As a means of raising funds for our club to sponsor the riders named above it was decided that we should run a ‘thousand club’ as was discussed earlier in the year. Mervin commented on how well he felt Michael has done this year on under powered machinery. An option which was suggested was that we could sponsor Michael two helmets next year done in livery to our choosing.
An issue was later raised anonymously regarding our sponsorship of Michael last year suggesting that it was a waste of money and that the money would be better spent on club members in some way whether it be by Christmas dinners or some sort of discounted trip away. It was thought that members should be given time to think about that matter and that the issue should be raised again in January.
Jimmy Hagan asked when the club where going to go touring again it was thought that this could be looked at in the New Year.
Mervin mentioned the possibility of a trip to the GP or WSB early in the New Year and expressed that if we where going to go that we should book it sooner rather than later.
